The End of The Spiritual Seeker
To many spiritual seekers, the promise of a better future, once one is finally “enlightened” can be irresistibly seductive. We hear stories of renowned spiritual teachers and gurus, their radiant presence, joy, and perhaps even otherworldly powers.
But if you find yourself on a spiritual quest that never seems to end, you may be caught in the final, most deceptive trap of the ego: the idea of spirituality itself.
What even is spirituality? The word has been stretched to cover so many meanings, many of which are ungrounded in the present moment and impossible to prove. So let me ask you: what do you imagine will happen when you finally “wake up”? Where did that idea come from, and how does not having it right now cause you to suffer?
Welcome to the rabbit hole of the seeker, where the act of seeking only feeds the identity of the one who seeks. It’s a self-reinforcing loop, like a fractal, that never ends and spins you in circles until you’re dizzy. Eventually, the exhaustion of searching and finding nothing forces you to question the entire premise of the spiritual quest.
At its core, this journey is about meeting life exactly as it is. No more fantasies of what life will be after awakening. No more escaping. This is the death of escape itself.
Waking up doesn’t mean the world suddenly loves you, or that all your dreams materialize at your feet. It means waking up to what you already are, right here, right now. All of your glorious, beautifully flawed and perfect nature.
This isn’t about ego gratification or arriving at some final destination. This is a mausoleum, for your dreams, hopes, and the illusion of a better tomorrow.
This is freedom of the mind. This is where you cease abandoning yourself for another moment other than this. It’s where clarity emerges from the fertile ground of your decaying delusions.
This is a homecoming back to yourself.
